  Welcome to the JASA Japanese Language Club!

  Join us once a month on Thursdays, starting at 6:30 PM. Our meetings are held at Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest.

  We encourage you to study the Hiragana, Katakana, and grammar section on your own at home. During our sessions, we'll focus on answering questions you have and practice conversational Japanese together!

  Feel free to ask questions, share resources, and connect with fellow learners in this group. We're excited to study with you!

  Join Table for Two, a network of Japan-America Societies, and the US JET Alumni Association for a virutal Japanese cooking class - Ouchigohan!!

  This virtual Japanese cooking class is held once a month via Zoom.

  Cook along while a Table for Two chef demonstrates how to cook a Japanese recipe! Registrants receive the recipe and a list of ingredients in advance, and are encouraged to cook along.

  
  

  This month's recipes spotlight Japanese winter comfort food - gyoza &  nabe hot pot. JASA members, or members of other Japan-America/Japan Societies receive a $5 registration discount. Email Gwenafaye McCormick to receive JASA's member code, and make sure to register here!

  HAPPY NEW YEAR! Join us to celebrate 2026's arrival with JASA friends!

  We're thrilled to invite you to the New Years Party (aka Kayoubikai) at TrimTab Brewing Company. It's a fabulous chance to mingle, practice your Japanese, and bond with the fantastic JASA community!
  

  Whether you're a member or just a curious soul, come all!

  • Attendance is limited to 30 individuals.
  • Pre-registration is mandatory; there is no registration fee.
  • There will be no open bar; attendees are responsible for purchasing their own drinks. Please note that beer prices vary based on size, ranging from a 5-ounce pour to a pitcher, with costs between $3 and $25. Tipping for individual tabs is at your discretion. A selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including kombucha and sodas, will also be available.
  • Registration is now open to everyone!
  • Please be advised that only light snacks will be provided; no full meals will be served.
