2024 New and Expanding Japanese Company Recognition

The Alabama Department of Commerce has released its annual "New and Expanding Industry Report" for 2024. This report, which offers information about new projects and capital investment across the state, can be found on the department's website, madeinalabama.com. In 2024, Japanese companies invested $325 million into Alabama with the expansion of 5 projects and created 361 jobs. The recognized companies are listed below in alphabetical order. Moriroku Technology North America recently opened our Headquarters and R&D Center in Marysville, Ohio. Serving as the design and development center for our four North American production facilities, we are committed to meeting our customer's needs and requirements through innovation and collaborative design. We pride ourselves on creating a positive work environment for our associates while maintaining a high standard of quality in our daily activity. Our centralized Quality Assurance testing lab has over thirty testing machines which allows for comprehensive product development. An in-house 3D printer aids in early prototype activity while equipment such as a salt fog humidity chamber and a walk-in sound chamber with vibration platform assures our customer's specificiations are met for mass production. The exciting addition of Moriroku Technology North America's Headquarters and R&D Center will assure our continued growth as a world class supplier of automotive products.

Plasmine Technology, Inc. produces and sells high quality rosin internal sizing agents and various surface treatment additives to the paper and paperboard industries. Our core business is the manufacture of specialty rosin and rosin ester based chemistries.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama employs more than 2,000 team members and builds more than 3,000 engines each day. Producing one-third of Toyota’s engines in the U.S. at its 1.3 million-square-foot facility, TMMAL is the only plant to build four-cylinder, V-6 and twin-turbo under one roof. TMMAL powers popular Toyota vehicles like the Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Tundra, Tacoma and Sequoia.

2024 Highlights:

  • A $49 million solar array, in partnership with Huntsville Utilities and Toyota Tsusho, supplies more than 70 percent of the plant's energy needs
  • Grants of up to $6.7 million to help prepare Huntsville City Schools’ students for future careers in science, technology, engineering and math. This funding is part of Toyota's Driving Possibilities initiative, which will be implemented over five years in select schools
